Pêra-Manca Red Wine Pêra-Manca is the label that the Fundação Eugénio de Almeida reserves for its exceptional wines. This wine is produced from the Trincadeira and Aragonez grape varieties. It is full-bodied, complex, and elegant, with aromas of dried fruits and the essences of the oak in which it matures. Thanks to the high quality of both the tannins and the oak used, these wines have remarkable longevity, requiring time to fully reveal their potential. First produced by the Fundação Eugénio de Almeida in 1990. Producer: Fundação Eugénio de Almeida Region: Alentejo, Portugal Style: Red Wine Grapes: Aragonez, Trincadeira Bottle Size: 75cl Alcohol: 15.5% Serving Temperature: 16–18ºC Vinification Produced from Aragonez and Trincadeira grapes, carefully harvested and selected. The grapes come from vineyard plots over 30 years old, where ripening occurs gradually, without excessive water stress, preserving the aromatic potential and natural extract of the varieties. Once perfectly ripe, the grapes are hand-picked and transported to the winery, where they undergo total destemming, strict optical sorting, and gentle crushing. Fermentation takes place in French oak vats at controlled temperature, followed by prolonged post-fermentative maceration. The wine is aged for 18 months in French oak casks, followed by extended bottle aging in the cellars of the Cartuxa Monastery. This wine has not been subjected to tartaric stabilization. Gastronomy – Food Pairing with Pêra-Manca Red Red Meats: Outstanding with premium grilled cuts (ribeye, tomahawk), roasted lamb, and dry-aged beef. Game: Perfect with venison, wild boar, braised partridge, and other structured game dishes that highlight its fine, elegant tannins. Traditional Alentejo Dishes: Ideal with lamb stew, asparagus migas with pork, and game açorda. International Cuisine: Harmonizes with Mediterranean and French classics (such as boeuf bourguignon), as well as North African dishes with gentle spices. Cheese & Charcuterie: Pairs beautifully with aged sheep cheeses, Iberian ham, chorizo, and rich charcuterie boards.   Pêra-Manca Red – Iconic Alentejo wine.
